Speak Up is the country wide forum for the Community and Voluntary sector across East Sussex.
The Big Event is an opportunity for the Voluntary and Community Sector across East Sussex to come together and explore relevant developments and changes that affect us as a sector. The Big Event always includes an advice fair, conference presentations, and breakaway workshops or masterclasses.
"This year’s Big Event will be focusing on safeguarding and safety in our East Sussex communities. We will be highlighting key developments and issues, and exploring what our organisations can do to support victims, alleviate risks, and address dangerous behaviours."
Key topics to be covered:
Domestic violence and abuse
Protecting staff and clients
SpeakUp is administered by 3VA.
Are you confused about the new GDPR (data protection) laws? Do you know what your organisation needs to do? HVA is hosting a free GDPR workshop for any charities, community groups or social enterprises that operate in Hastings.
The course aims to raise awareness of child protection issues and procedures and the signs and indicators of child abuse. To enable staff to identify and respond to child protection concerns and to become aware of East Sussex County Council Child Protection Procedures to encourage and develop effective inter-agency communication where child protection matters arise.
This course is aimed at voluntary organisations and volunteers to ensure they are aware of lone working risks and tips on how to avoid them.
