Basic Life Support

The aims of this training workshop are to give basic information relating to emergency situations both where a person is injured or has a sudden illness

 

The objectives:

·         To dispel some myths and give basic information of how to deal with emergency medical situations

·         To give practical experience of how to perform CPR

·         To raise awareness of how a defibrillator works and how simple they are to use

·         Recognition and handling of the unconscious person

·         CPR

·         Awareness of a defibrillator

·         Basic treatment of injuries, bleeds, burns, possible fractures

·         Recognition and positioning for heart attacks and strokes, emergency treatment for diabetes and epilepsy

 

We will be getting on the floor to undertake resuscitation. Please wear suitable clothing.

This session includes breaks with refreshments.

Target Audience:   Volunteers and Volunteer Co-ordinators linked to community or voluntary organisations and/or organisations who are members of HVA.

Costs: This is a FREE course for any delegate within the target audience group

This course is being run in partnership with the East Sussex County Council, and the venue costs have been waived by HVA

Please advise us as soon as you can if you have booked a space but unable to attend, so that we can make the space available to another participant.  Failure to attend without notice will incur a charge of £30 per person. This charge applies to all agencies.

Following the approval by the Government of the Hastings Neighbourhood Board 10yr Regeneration Plan in March 2026, we are pleased to welcome Kevin Boorman, Independent Chair of the Hastings Neighbourhood Board, supported by Josh Broadway, Pride in Place Programme Manager, to our HCN event to deliver a presentation about the community services in Hastings where the money will be invested. There will be a Marketplace where you can bring information leaflets etc about the work of your organisation and the chance to network with other attendees. There will also be the opportunity to take part in one of four workshops looking at partnership working, building trust across roles, organisations & communities, strategies for managing challenges and different expectations, and identifying mechanisms for sustaining collaboration.
