Basic Safeguarding Adults Awareness for Volunteers

The aims of this training are to raise awareness of what adult abuse is and how to raise a concern.

 

The objectives:

·         To introduce the legislation regarding safeguarding adults

·         To understand the different forms of abuse and recognise signs

·         To know how to react and what to do if someone discloses abuse

·         To understand the process of raising a concern with the local authority or the police if an emergency

Target Audience:   Volunteers and Volunteer Co-ordinators linked to community or voluntary organisations and/or organisations who are members of HVA.

Costs: This is a FREE course for any delegate within the target audience group

This course is being run in partnership with the East Sussex County Council, and the venue costs have been waived by HVA

Please advise us as soon as you can if you have booked a space but unable to attend, so that we can make the space available to another participant.  Failure to attend without notice will incur a charge of £30 per person. This charge applies to all agencies.

Participants will learn and practice key Behaviour Change techniques and understand how lifestyle impacts on health; specifically smoking, alcohol, healthy eating and physical activity.

The Hastings Opportunity Area is making grants of between £2,000 - £45,000 available for organisations to provide Hastings wide activities for disadvantaged children and young people living in Hastings.

We are holding an opening evening, for small voluntary sector or community led organisations, to run through the grant programme with you, answer any questions you may have about the programme and provide support to help you fill in the application form.

Leadership of small organisations has probably never been more challenging than at present. HVA have received requests to consider establishing a local leaders forum to bring together the Chief officers of organisations which:-
- Are locally based
- Have a turnover of below £1m
- Employ staff
- Are commissioned by or work in partnership with the public sector
