Basic Moving and Handling for Volunteers

The aims of Basic Moving and Handling training is to raise awareness of personal safety in relation to moving objects and people in everyday life.
The objectives:

·         Raise awareness of the anatomy of the spine

·         how we move,

·         risk factors when moving objects,

·         how to assist people,

·         safe methods for pushing lifting and lowering

·         as well as how to reduce risks when loading and unloading a car.

 

We will be going outside to load a wheelchair into the car, please wear suitable clothing for the weather.

This session includes breaks with refreshments.

Target Audience:   Volunteers and Volunteer Co-ordinators linked to community or voluntary organisations and/or organisations who are members of HVA.

Costs: This is a FREE course for any delegate within the target audience group

This course is being run in partnership with the East Sussex County Council, and the venue costs have been waived by HVA

Please advise us as soon as you can if you have booked a space but unable to attend, so that we can make the space available to another participant.  Failure to attend without notice will incur a charge of £30 per person. This charge applies to all agencies.

• Self- harm and other expressions of distress
• Where to get help if someone is suicidal
• An overview of the local Mental health system and supports
• An interactive discussion about experiences
• Managing your own wellbeing
