Sessional Advocate - CGL3533

Speak Out! Advocacy Service East Sussex, for children and young people
Location: East Sussex, and particularly for the Hastings, Rother and rural areas. 
Salary: £ 13.83 per hour; hours per week to be agreed on basis of need
We are seeking to recruit a professional and experienced Sessional Advocate to work across East Sussex for the Speak Out! Advocacy Service in East Sussex, for children and young people to provide high quality, confidential, independent advocacy. 
The Speak Out! Advocacy and IV Service offers free and confidential advocacy and support service for children and young people in East Sussex who are in care, care leavers, or engage with other East Sussex Children’s Services. Independent Advocates support children and young people to have their feelings and wishes heard in processes where decisions are made for or about them, as well as helping them to understand their rights and to complain about services if they so wish.
The role is on a sessional basis.  Advocates are expected to: commit to the rights of the child/young person to have a voice in the way they are cared for, in decisions that are made about their lives and the development and delivery of the services they receive; listen to and support children and young people; gain their views, wishes and feelings; and support child and young to speak out/ speak on their behalf at Child Protection Conferences and LAC Reviews.
Applicants must have significant experience of working directly with young people. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with stakeholders, service users, professionals and other team members is essential to this role. A good understanding of the role and purpose of advocacy for children/young people as well as safeguarding children policies and procedures are also essential.
