Old Hastings Preservation Society

To promote the permanent preservation of buildings of beauty or historic interest in the Borough of Hastings and St Leonards. To foster an appreciation of the history of the town of Hastings and to preserve evidence of that history. To develop the History House at our Headquarters to enable residents, visitors and students to explore the history of the town, by providing exhibitions, research facilities, talks and courses, and to continue our programme of external lectures, guided walks and publications. To encourage and undertake recording and research which supports our objective. To ensure the Fishermen’s Museum continues to provide interpretation of this important local industry and to preserve and add to its collection. To oppose any inappropriate developments likely to destroy the artistic or historic amenities of the town, whilst encouraging good architecture, design and planning in conservation areas.
