FAQs

  • How much time do I need to commit to being a Champion?

There is no fixed time commitment to being a Champion. The great thing about this approach and this project is that it shouldn’t be adding too much to your existing workload and commitments. It’s all about having conversations and signposting people as and when appropriate.

We offer optional training sessions and workshops to upskill you and your work. We also hold monthly support drop-ins, which are very informal; it’s just a chance for us to all come together over coffee/tea, have a chat, and it’s a chance for the Champions to talk about any conversations they may have had.

  • Do I have to pay for any of the training or workshops?

No, all the training sessions and workshops we hold are free.

  • Do I have to have lived experience of cancer to become a Champion?

No, you absolutely do not have to have lived experience of cancer to become a Champion, although the majority of our Champions have lived experience of cancer or have been affected by cancer.

  • Where are the other Champions projects based?

    Northern Ireland: Belfast
North of England: Blackburn/Darwen, North Shields, St Helens, and Calderdale
South West of England: Bristol and Plymouth
London, South and East of England: Hastings, Fenland, Watford, and Lewisham

  • How can I get involved?
