As the UK’s leading dementia research charity, Alzheimer’s Research UK is revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia. To celebrate Dementia Action Week, Dr Jenny Bell PhD, a community speaker for Alzheimer’s Research UK, will be talking to the Hastings Age Friendly Communities about the research projects being funded by the charity and the progress being made in understanding the diseases that cause dementia. She will also share why 2024 was an exciting turning point in the journey towards a cure. Join us for an interarctive session on brain health and the steps we can take to reduce our risk of developing dementia.

Mr Hastings & St Leonards and HVA are bringing the Baton of Hope to Hastings on September 23rd, 2025, as part of the National Baton of Hope tour and you have the opportunity to carry the Baton on the Hastings Leg of the tour. Baton Bearers carry the Baton as a symbol of hope, togetherness solidarity and a shared purpose, whether that’s in memory of someone lost to suicide, suicide survivors or anyone who is passionate about suicide prevention. This is an opportunity to honour lives lost, raise awareness and spark conversations.
