Are you someone that works on their own, without direct supervision or support? This course could be for you. Course Aims This course is aimed at voluntary organisations and volunteers to ensure they are aware of lone working risks and tips on how to avoid them. The course will cover: • The importance of a risk assessment • Recognising risks for volunteers • Safe lone working • Home visits • Recognising the warning signs of aggression • De-escalating and defusing aggressive situations • Knowing what resources exist • Reporting possible safeguarding concerns

Hastings Borough Council (HBC) is in the process of drafting a new Housing Strategy for the town. This will be a five-year strategy with the aim of adoption by the Autumn 2025. It will set out how HBC will meet their ambition for everyone in the town to have a decent place to live. HVA are working with HBC to facilitate a session for community organisations to comment on the draft strategy.

MECC (Making Every Contact Count) is a practical introduction to the skills in talking to people about the issues they are concerned about or the changes they are seeking to make. It is all about supporting people to identify and access the things that could help them. So if your work brings you into frequent contact with people and you want to improve the likelihood of making a real difference this training could be for you. A light lunch will be provided.
