Homes for Ukraine Scheme

HVA has met with many families who have arrived in Hastings via the Homes for Ukraine scheme and we are proud and inspired by how their hosts have responded and opened their homes to help others. We are providing emergency support and connecting families with other key services in the town.

If you want to offer a home to people fleeing Ukraine, you can become a ‘sponsor’ as part of the Homes for Ukraine scheme. You can register your interest in becoming a sponsor either as an individual or as an organisation.

Find our more about the the Homes for Ukraine scheme at: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/homes-for-ukraine-scheme-frequently-asked-questions

If you would like to offer other support to people affected by the crisis in Ukraine, the current guidance from various sources (including aid agencies on the ground) is to donate money if you are able to, rather than sending clothes and medicines to the affected area. You can donate money to The Disasters Emergency Committee (www.dec.org.uk), which will be matched by the UK Government. Alternatively you can donate money to the Ukrainian Red Cross here: https://redcross.org.ua/en/donate/

We continue to run the Links Project for refugees and asylum seekers from all countries (http://www.hastingsvoluntaryaction.org.uk/project/links-project) and we are in contact with the relevant authorities and services. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
