Working together for a fairer food system
The Hastings Food Project is an infrastructure body supporting community food projects to work together to reduce food insecurity in the longer term. We collect local insight on food related challenges related to health, education, social issues and the environment, convene working groups to explore these in more depth and work with partners to develop solutions.
Our role in the project
Our role is to connect partners working on shared themes, to share learning with key stakeholders locally and nationally and to campaign for change.
Who we’re working with
Collaboration is key to our work and our local partners include social supermarkets, food banks, community chefs, growers and schools. We are also a member of Good Food East Sussex – a larger network working to build local food systems that work for our people, our economy and our environment. This larger network brings together the five East Sussex Local Food Partnerships and East Sussex County Council. We also work directly with Feeding Britain and Trussell on policy and strategy related issues.
Our approach
Our work is done through mechanisms such as consultation, working groups, focus groups and through direct feedback from community food partners.
