Alexandra Park Greenhouse Group

The aim of APGG is to restore/repair a 100' 1930's teak and cast iron Richardson's greenhouse situated in the depot in Alexandra Park . This greenhouse was once the mini floral hall which was a heated botanical glasshouse the focal point of pets corner a much loved attraction now missed by residents of Hastings who remember visiting as children with their parents.
Prior to being a visitor attraction the greenhouse was part of a number of greenhouses bought by HBC in the 1930's to propagate plants for the parks and gardens in the borough.
APGG have been working to halt the decline of this valuable heritage building since 2013 . We have now been granted 25 year lease by HBC and are now a charity 117752. We are actively fund raising and are open for plant sales each Saturday 10.30 to 1.30 pm.
Volunteers join us on Saturday mornings to work on the site , care for the plants and are involved in plant sales and fundraising activities , both at the greenhouse and off site.
The ultimate aim is to use the fully restored greenhouse as a horticultural and nature centre for the community to use , visit and enjoy. Growing and developing their horticultural and gardening skills.
