Wealden Communities Development Worker

3VA are the Voluntary Action for Eastbourne, Lewes District and Wealden. We enable and support community groups, voluntary organisations and individuals across East Sussex, to improve quality of life and equality of opportunity for everyone. We represent and advocate for the voluntary and community sector with local government and other statutory authorities.

Purpose of the role
As Wealden Communities Development Worker, you will support, develop and facilitate a vibrant, dynamic and connected voluntary and community sector, building capacity in individuals and groups to support local activities and initiatives which benefit the community.

The postholder works as part of a team of Communities Development Workers for Eastbourne, Wealden and Lewes District and also as part of the wider 3VA community development team.

The role is about:

Identifying local community needs and priorities, helping to set up new groups and building capacity and capability which enables the voluntary and community sectors to be effective and sustainable.
Identifying, developing, and supporting events and partnership projects.
Ensuring that groups are supported in good management and governance practice.
Bringing an entrepreneurial approach to identifying funding, development, and collaborative opportunities
Promoting and supporting 3VA membership as a key element in developing and maintaining a vibrant community and voluntary environment

Responsible to: Community Development Manager

Location: Home based: working across Wealden

Salary: NJC Scale Point 26 – £32,909.00 (pro rata)

Hours per week: 22.5 hours

Pension: 6% employer contribution

Holiday pro rata: 26 days plus statutory holidays

Contract: Permanent
