Engagement Navigator – Moving on Up

SCDA’s primary purpose is the development of sustainable community-based regeneration initiatives addressing the economic, environmental, and cultural and community needs, and particularly addressing the needs of those most vulnerable in the community. SCDA is a lead delivery partner in a number of ESTAR employability projects, including Moving on Up project, a programme that seeks to support those affected by homelessness to move into both sustainable housing and employment.

Engagement Navigator – Moving on Up

Up to 37 hours per week – based in either Eastbourne, Hastings or Newhaven with travel expected across East Sussex
Starting salary range £24,982 – £29,856 per annum pro rata dependent on skills and experience
This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check

Fixed term – immediate start until 31st March 2023

This is a great opportunity to work on the new Moving on Up project within the Employability Team. Moving on Up is funded by Public Health funding and overseen by East Sussex County Council. SCDA is a lead partner in this project.
The Engagement Navigator is responsible for creating and maintaining effective relationships with referral networks across East Sussex. By this we mean the housing provider community including housing key workers as well as colleagues participants in temporary accommodation. This post holder will create strong working relationships with local housing representatives in Boroughs, Districts and the Local Authority as well as any Homeless Prevention roles, Wellbeing Coordinators, local landlords, housing benefits teams, housing associations, hostels, Jobcentre Plus and rehab facilities.

The Engagement Navigator role will include:
-    Building and maintaining effective working relationships with appropriate referral agencies, organisations and relevant
professionals to identify participants who are eligible for the projects
-    Providing a holistic assessment of individual needs and managing the flow of referrals into MOU and other COMF
funded projects
-    Signpost to, distribute and promote the range of ESTAR resources created to support the wellbeing and employability
needs of homeless people in the community.

The post requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience in working with individuals with housing support needs who have housing related support issues, evidence of providing housing support and practical assistance within a residential or outreach support role, experience of working with individuals who are facing complex barriers to work or learning, excellent IT and admin skills to ensure timely and accurate maintenance of client records for audit and funding purposes. Successful candidates should demonstrate empathy, a creative approach and the ability to monitor ongoing participant progress towards desired goals.
