Interested in Volunteering & in Helping Your Local Community?
There are many organisations offering a wide range of volunteering opportunities. From gardening, to music, to supporting people in your community and more. Volunteering is very rewarding!
If you've got an idea about what you'd like to do, you can find a list of recent volunteering opportunities in the local area HERE.
If you're a younger prospective volunteer, there is a PDF at the bottom of this page that has a range of roles that are potentially open to young people. Most are 16+, but some roles can accommodate volunteers from the age of 11.
If you're unsure about what sort of role might be right for you, then you can provide some brief details on our Volunteering Registration Form and we'll be in touch.
We also highlight Volunteering Opportunities of the Month.
You are also welcome to get in touch with Jane Caley to discuss volunteering opportunities that may be suitable for you. Email [email protected] or phone 01424 444010.
OR maybe you are interested in volunteering but don’t feel you have time to commit to regular hours? If this sounds like you, then maybe you’d like to be added to a pool of ‘casual’ volunteers we could invite to help a local charity or community group on occasion. It could be with something like a one off bookkeeping task, or a small bit of website maintenance, or a one off supermarket collection, or even a decorating activity. Again, get in touch with Jane on [email protected]
Organisations looking for volunteers:
We encourage you to list your role/s on Tribe. Tribe is a new digital volunteering platform that is being piloted in Hastings before being rolled out county-wide. The platform helps connect Volunteer Involving Organisations with individuals in their area who either want to help, or who need help.
You can add your listing HERE: https://tribeproject.org/manage-community-groups
The platform can be used in a number of ways including: to recruit volunteers; to advertise services; to support existing volunteers; to promote events.
The platform is being funded by East Sussex County Council, and the pilot is being led by Hastings Voluntary Action.
Any roles you send to HVA will also be listed on Tribe unless you specifically ask that they not be included on the platform. Please submit roles to us via this GoogleForm: Volunteer Role Listing Request
For more support and advice about how and where to advertise volunteering opportunities, contact Jane Caley at Hastings Voluntary Action on [email protected] or phone 01424 444010.
Volunteer Coordinators’ Forums
HVA, RVA and 3VA run regular Volunteer Coordinators’ Forums around the county. Keep an eye on our Events page for up to date details.
If you need support around recruiting or supporting Trustees, please visit our Trustee Advice and Information Page.
Hastings' Volunteering Strategy
HVA were delighted to collaborate with the Institute for Volunteering Research on the largest ever study of volunteering ever undertaken in Hastings. The study provided an independent and objective body of evidence from which we have developed a local strategy. This strategy has been through extensive research, consultation and engagement, and we are grateful to everyone who took part. You can download a copy of the strategy 'A Volunteering Vision for Hastings' at the bottom of this page, or click HERE.
