Sussex Community Development Association (SCDA) delivers a range of projects & services aimed at supporting the needs of vulnerable individuals and empowering and further developing community activity. We are now looking for an experienced individual to join our Let’s Get Working team. LGW is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund and supports people with long-term health conditions and disabilities to find work.
Full time permanent – 37 hours per week.

Salary range - £17,503 - £19,711 per annum, dependent on skills & experience
Based in Hastings, with regular working in our offices in Newhaven and Eastbourne.
Our Senior Project Assistants are practical, organised with strong IT and admin skills. They are the ‘go to’ person in the office – if you can’t find something our SPAs will know where it is!
Main duties include:
- creating and updating complex Excel spreadsheets using formulas to track target progress
- ensuring delivery partners are up to date with paperwork
- helping with database updates,
- meeting & greeting participants and visitors
- answering queries in person, via phone & email
As well as the above, ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate sensitivity in working with vulnerable people, and be accustomed to regular review and performance reporting of your own work. With an excellent level of written, oral and interpersonal communication, you will also show understanding of the aims and values of SCDA as a whole.
Post is subject to a DBS check and based in Hastings with regular working in our offices in Newhaven and Eastbourne.
Covid-19 conditions
In line with current government guidance on social distancing, we are implementing Covid-safe conditions in the work place and are bringing our teams back into the office at an appropriate level. We would like interviews for this role to take place in person with social distancing measures. The successful applicant will be equipped and supported with blended working – i.e. a combination of working in the office and working from home for some days each week.
