Teaching independent cooking sessions, meal planning, ordering, preparing. Running mini workshops on food hygiene, diet, and physical health. A teaching qualification is not necessary but a willingness to complete Level 3 Food Hygiene is necessary. Many of our trainees go on to roles in the food industry so high standards and excellent communication and report writing skills are essential.
Job purpose
· To enable adults with learning disabilities and autism (trainees) to make significant personal progress in preparation for paid employment.
· To identify trainees’ skills and aspirations to successfully place them into paid employment.
· To run the kitchen, supporting trainees to prepare lunch for around 20 people.
· Running workshops with trainees in catering, housekeeping and customer service skills in preparation for paid work.
· Teaching and developing hospitality skills. Preparing trainees for paid employment in the hospitality industry.
Main duties – Catering and Hospitality
· Run the kitchen, leading groups of trainees in the hygienic preparation, delivery and serving of lunch to approximately 20 people.
· Support trainees in the daily cleaning of the kitchen and ensuring the kitchen and equipment is cleaned to a high standard.
· Support trainees in monitoring fridge stock rotation and quality control. · Manage ordering, receipt, and storage of groceries.
· Be responsible for food hygiene and maintaining high levels of cleanliness within the catering and housekeeping groups.
· Teaching and developing hospitality skills. Preparing trainees for paid employment in the hospitality industry.
· Experience in catering and hospitality desirable.
Main duties – other areas
· Plan, prepare and deliver activities for the trainee’s, ensuring progress is planned and assessed daily, over the medium and longer term.
· Ensure trainee learning is focused on developing employment skills, particularly those that may act as a barrier to employment.
· Ensure trainees are kept safe and adequately supervised and supported to achieve their potential.
· Encourage trainee participation and motivation in activities and discourage learned helplessness.
· Work flexibly and creatively to develop new activities and goals that are engaging and motivating and work towards meeting the overall aims of the project.
· Build positive relationships between farm teams/volunteers and trainees and promote full trainee participation in all activities.
· Create a goal-focused, positive environment where achievements are celebrated, and mistakes are learnt from.

Salary: £11 per hour – £13,728 per annum based on working 24 hours per week
Working hours: 3 days per week, usual working pattern – Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, 9am to 5pm. You may be asked occasionally to work outside of these hours or days, with agreement.
