Witness Service
The Witness Service is based in both crown and magistrates courts. It seeks to help manage the experience of being a witness and giving evidence in court and supports both prosecution and defence witnesses, victims of crime, families and friends attending court. The Service is for adults and children. Trained volunteers provide emotional support, as well as practical information about court proceedings. We can offer a confidential ear, a pre-trial court visit. A quiet place before the hearing, as well as someone to accompany you into the courtroom. We can put you in touch with appropriate legal experts (the Witness Service cannot discuss evidence or offer legal advice) and offer a chance to talk over the case when it has ended and to get further help and information.
