Engagement Worker – Sex Worker Outreach Project (*Female)

22.5 hours per week
Salary: £24,000 per year FTE (Pro Rata) 
This is a fixed term contract until 31st March 2020
Who we are:
For 21 years Oasis Project (Oasis) has delivered services for women with drug and alcohol problems and children affected by drug use in the family. We are an innovative, creative and forward thinking organisation, which aims to help and give hope to women and children affected by drug and alcohol problems.  
About the role:
Oasis Project’s Sex Worker Outreach Project (SWOP) has received funding from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport’s Tampon Tax Fund to build upon over 16 years of experience in delivering a sex worker support service to further develop and deliver a wider-reaching specialist service to women in Sussex involved in the sex industry. The project’s aim will be to increase the safety and wellbeing of women involved in sex work; improve outcomes for women involved in sex work with a focus on recovery from sexual violence and abuse; and to improve outcomes for women with complex needs who are involved in the sex industry.

What you will do:
•    Undertake substantial outreach with clients in Brighton & Hove and across Sussex;
•    Work holistically with women involved in the sex industry to address their physical, psychological and emotional needs;
•    Work with individuals and groups in informal and innovative ways to improve their sexual and generic health
•    Work in partnership with other agencies to continue the development of this service which includes a dedicated helpline.
You will have:
•    Have RGN / RMN / Social Worker (HCPC registered) / or be educated to degree level or equivalent with relevant qualification;
•    Have an in-depth awareness of the structure of the sex industry and current issues within this framework;
•    Have proven verbal and written communication skills with excellent IT skills and database inputting;
•    Be able to work effectively as part of a team as well as on own initiative; 
•    Possess a resilient attitude and work in a way that is reflective, adaptable and non-judgemental and adhere to professional boundaries at all times;
•    Have experience of managing a caseload of clients in line with agreed processes; 
•    Have knowledge and experience of safeguarding procedures and responsibilities; confidentiality procedures and data protection guidelines.
•    Be experienced in managing a caseload of clients in line with agreed processes; and
•    Be willing and able to travel across the county, including to remote areas for home visits;
