We are recruiting for the following posts: Family Practitioner – East Sussex

Part-time – 30 hours per week over 4 days
Fixed term until end of August 2025
This role is based in Hastings, East Sussex. There will be some home working but also an expectation for the post holder to work from the office and undertake outreach work.

Oasis Project has been awarded funding from The National Lottery Reaching Communities fund to develop the Oasis Family Recovery Centre in East Sussex which aims to help to address the cycle of intergenerational substance misuse which causes lasting damage to families and communities. This innovative project will draw on the unique approach and specialism Oasis has developed over the last 24 years working with women, children and families affected by drug and alcohol misuse.
What you will do:
The Family Practitioner roles (we are recruiting for one male and one female worker) will be instrumental to delivering the project and offer skilled practitioners a chance to undertake creative and innovative work directly with parents who are experiencing issues with drugs and/or alcohol. The role of the Family Practitioner will include:
• Delivery of group programmes for parents drawing on Oasis’ POCAR Programme (Parenting Our Children, Addressing Risk); an evidence-based specialist intervention delivered parents which aims to address substance misuse through harm minimisation and recovery models alongside a focus on safe parenting
• Flexible and person-centred 1:1 work with parents to support behaviour change in relation to substance misuse, build recovery capital and improve access to and engagement with other professionals including children’s services.
• Delivery of training and learning opportunities for colleagues and partners in the statutory and third sector to improve efficacy around identification, engagement and support for families affected by substance misuse.
You will have:
• Social Work Qualification or Nursing (RMN,RGN) or a related degree level qualification, or minimum of two years’ experience working with children and families.
• Significant experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team and participating in multi-agency relationship building and working
• Proven track record of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and participating in multi-agency relationship building and working
• Proven experience delivering training and skills to communicate with and influence people at all levels
• Proven verbal and written communication skills with excellent IT skills and database inputting
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as on own initiative
• Experience of managing a caseload of clients in line with agreed processes
• Knowledge and experience of safeguarding procedures and processes, confidentiality procedures and data protection guidelines and right to confidentiality
• Understanding of the impact of drug and alcohol misuse issues on children and families
• Experience of building relationships with parents and families even at times of difficulty or challenge
