Would you love to help people build confidence and support them to thrive in the world of work?
Little Gate is growing, and we are passionate about enabling adults with learning disabilities and autism to fulfil their potential.
How do we do this? We find the right role for the individual and with the support of a job coach we enable them to grow and have the experiences that we all expect from a job.
Could you be our next Job Coach? A Job Coach will directly work with the individual who may not have had a paid job before but really wants to get into the world of work. They may be nervous; they may be excited but always enthusiastic about having a real job. They will need your support to enable them to succeed.
What will you be doing?
• You will provide subtle support that enables the individual to learn work systems and processes at their place of work and become a valued employee.
• You may help the trainee to develop their CV and understand their goals.
• You will also support with travel training, understanding benefits and work with the whole family.
• Part of your role will be to also support the employer and help them make the best decisions for the individual.
Very few people who start with us have worked in supported employment before, having transferable skills and sharing our values is what is important. However, experience in education, disability, partnership building, or employment support would be handy.
You will:
• Share our values.
• Be a car driver with access to a car.
• Be subject to an enhanced disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service
• Be able to work from home occasionally, organising your time and working flexibly.
• Have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrate resilience in dealing with emotional situations on a regular basis.
• Use IT systems including Office 365 independently, efficiently, and effectively.
Don’t just take it from us – here is a quote from Chris, one of our trainees.
‘Having a job now, it makes me feel more confident in myself, being able to be more independent, learn new skills, going out there and, y’know, doing the things I love and care for’.
