Men's Health and Wellbeing Project - East Sussex

Men's Health and Wellbeing Project - East Sussex

Following on from the success of the Mr Hastings and St Leonards community led approach to Men's Health and Wellbeing, East Sussex County Council Public Health have commissioned a three year expansion of this approach across wider area's in East Sussex with the initial focus on Rother.

The three years funding will enable the continuation of work alongside local men, and wider stakeholders, to explore opportunities to continue the conversation around mens health and wellbeing across new areas in East Sussex.

Hastings Voluntary Action will host the project and work collaboratively with, Rother Voluntary Action and local men to deliver the next Phase.

The key principles from Mr Hastings and St leonards will underpin the new phase for men's health and wellbeing.

This project is based on the belief that men will live happier, healthier, and longer lives if they are at the heart of decision making and live in strong, supportive, and well-connected communities, where they can fulfill their potential.

What Happened in Hastings & St Leonards - Timeline 2022-2025

Darrell Gale, Director of Public Health East Sussex County Council, says:

The Mr Hastings and St Leonards project stands as a powerful testament to what can be achieved when communities come together with purpose, compassion, and a shared vision for change. At its heart lies a simple but urgent truth, the life expectancy and healthy life expectancy of men in Hastings and St Leonards remain unacceptably low. This is not just a statistic, it is a call to action.
