Research and education: This purpose ranges from: gathering information and opinions on Coastal towns, literature reviews of other research on coastal towns, studies of causes of deprivation in coastal towns and helping to develop local education infrastructure within coastal towns. Civic engagement: This aim is to help promote wider voluntary civic participation in regeneration projects within the town. Finally, the role of directing public money (public and private) towards coastal towns aiming to complete successful regeneration projects aims to direct initiatives desiring to lower inequality and ease deprivation problems towards deprived coastal towns.
