Sussex Wildlife Trust

The aim of the Sussex Wildlife Trust is to conserve the Sussex landscape, wildlife and its habitats, and to use its knowledge and expertise to help the people of Sussex to enjoy, understand and take action to this end.

Volunteers, must be 18 years or over and enjoy being outdoors. A reasonable level of fitness is needed, however volunteers can work at their own pace. The Reserve where volunteers are most needed is:
Filsham Reedbed Nature Reserve - St Leonards on Sea (one Saturday per month)
One of the largest surviving reedbeds in Sussex, Filsham Reedbed is home to many breeding warblers during the summer, and the ponds and lagoons attract many birds in the autumn and winter including bearded tits and harriers. Tasks include scrub and reed cutting, maintaining paths for visitor access, and keeping the open water areas free from encroaching vegetation

(If anyone wants to volunteer on a Sunday, there are two other reserves where occasional Sunday practical tasks take place: Marline Valley and Flatropers Wood, and we'd be happy to hear from anyone who is interested)
