The Arches is a fully equipped, professional printmaking studio. A facility in which the user, printmaker/ artist/ designer can create screen prints, monoprint, linoprint/ cut, woodcut and etching. A printing environment where by professional artists/ printmakers will be encouraged to be mentors to the not so experienced. Therefore creating a nurturing, knowledge sharing domain.
There are set days where the studio will have specific print workshops/courses. I am very keen to offer classes that are geared towards people with specific disabilities, social outreach cooperative projects, unemployed young adults and even oap craft events. All created and structured by trained, professional course builders and tutors.
The Arches would like to offer the opportunity to those members of the wider community who wouldn't ordinarily be introduced to this type of creative activity. We feel that the experience they would gain and the art they would create would be totally enriching for them and maybe give them focus. Moreover, currently we are focusing on building links with organisations such as Southdown East Sussex Community Links Services and Hastings- Your Way Hub. Working together we would like to give people with mental health issues with in our community new skills, help them gain confidence and introduce them to alternative social networks.
