Making Every Contact Count (MECC)

Making Every Contact Count (MECC), this is a behavioural change technique which is now commonly used by health and social care staff during their day-to-day interactions or health appointments with individuals, although you don’t need to be in one of these roles to attend the training, it can be beneficial to anyone.

The training session will give you tips on how to ask the right questions about people’s lifestyle and their habits (e.g. around smoking, drugs and alcohol, eating habits, exercise etc.), what questions to avoid asking, how best to approach a situation, and where to signpost individuals to find further support on making healthy changes to their lives if it's appropriate. It isn’t about telling individuals what to do it’s about working with them to find what’s best for them and their situation.
