Hearing the perspective from; East Sussex County Council, Hastings Borough Council, CCG, Police and the Voluntary Sector in answer to the following two questions:

What is the current picture in your service for supporting vulnerable victims?

What connections are needed to be made with other organisations to increase the resilience of your clients?
The Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2014 shared out the responsibility between police, local authorities and social landlords to respond to ASB. However, there is little doubt that those considered most likely to be the cause of ASB are in fact as likely to be vulnerable victims themselves; this is clearly demonstrated through increasing local instances of “cuckooing” or county drug lines. However, there is a distinct risk, particularly with the new ASB powers, that we end up focusing our resources on the most obvious groups and pushing the behaviour out of certain areas of the town but not addressing the underlying causes. The result is that one group or community will feel safer in the town but another group or even another location will not.
